Sale types are used to distinguish one kind of sale from another, for reporting purposes. They also impact sales accounting, as they appear as one of the account assignment options on the Sales Assignments screen. To access the master list of sale types, go to Sales > Setup > Master Information > Sale Types. The following screen will appear:

The Sale Types screen displays information on all existing sale types, including sale type code, active status, default status, and description.

13.3.4.1. Sale Type

To create a new sale type, select the NEW button. The following screen will appear:

When creating a new sale type, you are presented with the following options:

Code

Enter a unique code to identify the sale type.

Description

Enter a description to further identify the sale type.

Active

Select to indicate the sale type is active. If not selected, the sale type will be considered inactive.

Default

Select if you want the sale type to be the default sale type when entering sales orders.
