If you are running the xTuple database server on a virtual machine, first make sure your VM network settings are configured to use a "bridged adaptor."
On the guest machine, run this command to display the network address of your various adaptors.
ip addr
You should see one with an address like 192.168.0.100. This is the address of your VM on your local network.
