3. Selecting a Platform for the Database
The xTuple database can be installed on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Not all platforms, however, support the same xTuple features.
On Microsoft Windows or Mac OS, you are limited to a non-web-enabled installation. You can run the full ERP server and clients, but you will not be able to use our web-enabled features such as the REST API and xTupleCommerce.
On Linux you can install either non-web-enabled or web-enabled versions. Also for Linux there is a special administrative tool called the xTuple Admin Utility (xTAU) that helps guide you through installation and to other tasks.
