Navigate to Manufacture > Setup > Configure > Quality and define the Quality Test # Generation. This identifies the document numbering method as well as the next number to be used (for automatic numbering).

This is the basis for quality workflow configuration. A plan type is a grouping of plans into categories. You only have to setup workflow against a plan type and you'll see that it works the same way as setting up a sales or purchase workflow.

You can define the potential reasons for an item test or inspection failure that you wish to use for reporting purposes. This is a way of classifying why a test failed. Analysis can then be done on failure reasons.

Sometimes there is a decision to release an item regardless of the failed test. This option defines who or why an item was released despite the test failing and requires a special privilege.

Purely for grouping specifications into different groups such as visual, measurement, temperature, color etc. It is only used as a way to manage large lists of specifications.
