Chapter 2. Project Basics

At the heart of the project and job costing related features in xTuple ERP are projects themselves. Projects capture time & expense sheet information, provide virtual general ledger (G/L) account segments for project accounting, and serve as containers for tracking costs related to job orders.

In this chapter, we will be looking closely at the features of the Project screen—and also at how orders are linked back to projects for tracking and reporting purposes. Having a grasp of basic project functionality is critical to a full understanding of the project and job costing related features in xTuple ERP.
