xTupleCommerce can connect directly to your UPS and/or FedEx account via application programming interfaces (APIs) provided by the carriers. Configuration of the shipping APIs is handled during implementation. Once the connections are in place, users can choose from the ship via options you make available to them, taking advantage of the shipping options and costs based on your negotiated rates. To learn more about configuring the ship vias for xTupleCommerce, please see the xTuple Implementation Guide.
The shipping companies offer many levels of shipping, including ground, overnight, expedited, 2-day, etc. Each of these shipping options can be used and displayed on the xTupleCommerce portal. However, some additional setup may be required.
If customers have products which require specialty shipping due to their size, weight, or contents, xTupleCommerce allows you to also include other options for your customers, such as specialty shipping or customer pickup. Again, please see the xTuple Implementation Guide for more information.
Once the shipping options have been configured during implementation, managers are able to modify the note next to shipping options. For example, a manager may want to include a note stating, "Select this shipping method for us to contact you about shipping options" if the item requires specialty shipping. These notes are created in the XML at the bottom of the Shipping Configuration page found at
.
