1.2. Shipping and Billing Addresses

During their first checkout, users will be asked to provide their shipping and billing information, if it is not already supplied by the ERP. To facilitate a faster checkout there is a checkbox for the billing address labeled Same as shipping address that is selected by default. If the user wishes to enter a different address for their billing, they simply uncheck the box and the appropriate fields will automatically appear.

xTupleCommerce uses address validation software for postal addresses, to help ensure accuracy. In the United States, validation is provided by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Addresses validated by USPS will appear in ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS. Outside of the United States, Google address searching is used. The original shipping address used to checkout during a user's first purchase is saved as their default shipping address. However, once users have an account established, they are able to create additional ship-to addresses. The shipping address information is stored with their account. Users can view their addresses by navigating to My Account > Shipping Addresses. There is no limit to the number of ship-to addresses a user can maintain.

Users who have multiple shipping addresses on file are able to specify their desired ship-to during the checkout process.
