6.4. User Menu

The User menu appears in the header portion of the xTupleCommerce portal. Because of this, the User menu will be available to visitors on every page they visit. While the User menu can be customized, its primary focus is to provide user-related information. For example, this is where visitors will find the log in/log out link. Likewise, users who are logged in can access their account information from here.

The following three system-defined elements form the core of the User menu:

All unauthenticated users will see this link, providing them the option to log in. The user-visible label for this link can be modified. For example, you could replace Log in with Enter.

Log out

Once logged in, users are given the ability to log out. This label can also be modified.

My account

Logged in users will also see a link to their account profile information. This link's label can also be changed.

To access the User menu, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Structure > Menus > User menu.

  2. The steps to add, edit, and reorder the User menu items are the same as described in Section 6.1, “Main Menu”.

Note

The system elements (i.e., Log in/out and My account) can also be modified, with one exception: The paths for these are system-defined and cannot be updated.

Some implementations may want to add a link to customers' My Favorite items in the User menu. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Structure > Menus > User menu.

  2. Select the Add link option.

  3. Title the menu option "My Favorites" (or similar).

  4. For the path, use products/favorites. This path will link to the logged-in user's My Favorite items. Unauthenticated users will not see this menu option.
