When a new cart is created on the web portal, a quote is automatically created in the ERP. Once the customer completes their order, the quote will become a sales order. To ensure that the document number stays consistent, you'll need to set the quote number generation policy here: Sales > Setup > Configure > Sales. In the Quote # Generation field, choose the Automatic, Use S/O #'s option from the drop-down list. This will ensure that quotes and sales orders will share the same number.
