A commission schedule assignment is the application of an existing commission schedule when all the conditions defined in that assignment have been met. There are various elements in xTuple that can be filtered here to contribute to a truly flexible enhanced commissions structure:
Sales reps
Ship-to addresses
Customers
Product categories
Sales rep groups
For a particular assignment, you have the option to exclude other schedules when its conditions are met. There is also an option to include or exclude sales managers in a particular assignment. These assignments appear in the name of the relevant schedules as a master list in the setup of the
module.To access the Commission Schedule Assignment master list, select
under in the left pane of the Sales Setup screen. You will be presented with the following screen:Commission Schedule Assignment master list
If the Commission Schedule Assignments master list is not visible, you will need to go through the configuration of the module from the beginning to ensure that the user has sufficient privileges and that enhanced commissions is enabled.
The top menu bar in this screen is used to add, assign and delete commission schedules. The list of commission schedules that will appear in the list in this screen depends on the filter options that are applied when you click on
in the top menu bar of this screen. You can define the filter criteria by clicking on the button in the top menu bar of this screen.To maintain a commission schedule assignment, double click the item you wish to maintain. Then, to add a new commission schedule assignment, click the
button. You will be presented with the following screen:Commission Schedule Assignment
The following options are presented on the Commission Schedule Assignment screen:
From the drop down menu, select the commission schedule that you wish to create an assignment for. The chosen commission schedule name will be used to identify the assignment that you configure for it. In our example, the normal accounts commission schedule is selected.
The Description field will be populated with the description of the commission schedule that are used in this assignment and cannot be altered here.
In the Assignment section of this screen, you can define conditions that need to be true for the commission schedule in this assignment to be applied. The conditions are defined by using filters on the various xTuple elements that are listed.
When this option is checked, you will be presented with a list of sales reps in a drop down menu from which you can choose one to which the commission schedule will be applied if the other conditions that are defined in the assignment are also true.
When this option is checked, you will be presented with a drop down menu containing a list of all the ship-to addresses in the system. The commission schedule will be applied if this ship-to address is used and the other conditions on this screen are also true.
Selecting a customer from the drop down menu when this option is checked will tell the system to apply the commission schedule when this customer is used and all the other conditions here are met.
You will see a list of all the product items in the system when you select this item. You can keep this option checked if the commission schedule needs to be applied when this product item is used and the other conditions on the screen are also met.
If you want the commission schedule to be applied when any of the product items in a product category are used, this option need to be checked with the relevant product category selected from the drop down menu. Remember that any other conditions defined here need to be met as well.
The sales rep groups defined under the master information in the sales setup are used here. Checking this option with a selected sales rep group next to it will tell the system to apply the commission schedule when sales rep belonging to this group is used and the other defined options on this screen are true.
The following additional options are available:
Select to exclude other commission schedules when this schedule is applied.
Select to apply this commission to sales managers and not only sales reps.
